Sharing: A Practice for Family Connection

This book is neither a therapy manual nor a technically organized “how to” book. It is an honest account, written in almost conversational style, in which the mother of four, in-law mother of four, and grandmother of seven living grandchildren candidly shares with the reader her readily-adaptable formula for reliably connecting within family.

In 2004, Pat began writing—initially, only for her family, to document the history of its sharing interactions over the last twenty-five years. She was mindful of the many requests from friends throughout those years urging her to write a book describing the practice of family sharing as a model for other families. Pat submitted her 2-year work product to a publisher. It was accepted by the first publisher who read it, published and released in the year 2006—the same year Pat celebrated her seventieth birthday. The book includes autobiographical material, some number of very funny family stories, some heart-breaking and soul-touching family events, a good deal of spiritually-relevant material, a few pointed recommendations, a framework for how to initiate and orchestrate an individualized family sharing practice, all tied together with a silver thread of authenticity, wit, wisdom and warmth.
